Additional Info
Among the most colorful of the early Seventh-day Adventist church workers was Stephen Nelson Haskell. A self-made man, fearless, and endowed with ingenuity, courage, and vision, Haskell led in a number of enterprises that were accepted and established by the denomination. He was the first to make an around-the-world trip in the interest of Adventist missions, taking almost two years. He was a leader in city mission work, and we think of him as the father of the tract and missionary societies from which developed the Book and Bible Houses and two departments of the church–Publishing and Home Missionary.

Apostles Sister
$25.49Add to cartAya, daughter of Zebulon of Tarsus, does not want a traditional life. Because she has always lived in the shadow of her brilliant brother, she wants to use her gifts and be something more than a wife and mother. When her traditional father insists she marry Avidan, a Torah student, she reluctantly agrees, but when Avidan leaves for Jerusalem, she seizes an opportunity to fulfill her deepest yearning, realizing she may never have another chance to do so.
After moving to Jerusalem, she expects to be bored in her role as wife to a Torah student, but finds herself fascinated by her husband’s studies. And when her brother Sha’ul makes a life-altering decision, she finds herself faced with a troubling question: How can she remain true to all she’s been taught since infancy and still love her blasphemous brother?

Time To Bloom
$20.99Add to cartThe Nielsen sisters have accomplished much in the past year, traveling west and settling in Nebraska. They are on their way to rebuilding their mother’s garden, and their excitement only grows when they receive a letter from their brother Anders saying he’s coming to visit with a friend from the war. However, none of that can mask their concern that they are quickly running out of money. Del’s work teaching in town offers hope, not only to support her sisters but also to better her students’ lives. Not all see it that way, though, with the town lagging on rebuilding the schoolhouse and her brightest student’s father demanding he work the farm instead of learn. An invasion of grasshoppers only makes things worse. When Anders arrives with his war-wounded friend RJ, he sees the strength of the sisters’ idea to start a boardinghouse with the train coming to town. He invests in it and suggests RJ build it. Del finds RJ barely polite and wants nothing to do with him. But despite Del and her sisters’ best-laid plans, the future–and RJ–might surprise them all.
